Real Weddings: A vibrant, vegan affair

February 22, 2019

One of the most fun aspects of wedding planning is deciding on the theme, or colour scheme. Beautiful couple Rowena & Adam decided that rather than having a theme, they would weave a thread throughout every detail of their wedding of something central to their everyday lifestyles – living vegan.

The Ceremony

Rowena & Adam got married on the perfect August summer day, at Rowena’s parents home in Hampshire. Their legal ceremony took place in Newbury, Berkshire, followed by a beautiful, intimate hand-fasting ceremony and a great party in the garden!

A hand-fasting ceremony was held under a hazel archway, followed by a walk to the labyrinth Rowena’s parents had created in the adjoining field. Hand-fasting is an intimate ceremony where the couples’ commitment to walk together through life is celebrated.  At the labyrinth, gifts of water, salt and oil are made to The Earth.

The wardrobe

Rowena’s exquisite 1920’s style dress was created with a special faux silk (to keep it vegan!) by designer Kate Beaumont, and Adam’s stylish linen suit was provided by Folk Clothing.

The food

As Rowena & Adam are both vegan, it was important to have vegan caterers who could deliver tasty food to a crowd of vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters! Cashew Catering provided a three course vegan meal for all guests, along with a delicious vegan victoria sponge for the wedding cake. Later in the evening Beelzebab provided tasty vegan hot dogs, and The Little London Brewery provided a specially crafted vegan ale for the occasion.

The flowers

Rowena’s flowers were provided by Brighton florist, Gunns Florist. The bridesmaids and flower girl had dried garlands, and even Rowena & Adam’s dogs wore lovely dried collars, provided by Lotus Floral Art!

The decor & other details

The teepees were dressed with beautiful dried hops, similar to those you will be able to view at our next Open Day! The tables were kept natural and rustic with wildflowers in milk bottles and tea lights in jam jars.

A very special tribute

One of the most special aspects of Rowena & Adam’s day was their Elvis-themed bar teepee, which was in memory of Adam’s mum who was a huge Elvis fan. The bar served Elvis-theme cocktails (“The Priscilla” & “All Shook Up”), and the teepee was adorned with Elvis memorabilia & a life-size Elvis cut-out.

A truly magical day

Every detail of Rowena & Adam’s day was planned and perfectly executed. We just can’t help falling in love with this beautiful wedding and beautiful couple! Take a look at all of their fabulous suppliers, below, along with a few more stunning images of the day.
