Safety information
The Nordic Tipi has solid wood poles, which are made from the trunks of Spruce trees that have been grown slowly for 100 years, making them strong and flexible (and very difficult and slow to burn). The canvas is fire-retardant.
Emergency exit is possible through two separate exits, each on opposite sides of the tent. Often clients wish some or all of the sides to be "up" in which case the exits are very large. Where multiple Nordic Tipi are joined together, exits are designed into the structure specific to the local requirements.
An open fire in a specially designed fireplace is available. The fireplace is placed in the centre of the Kåta so that smoke escapes through the smoke hole at the top, and there is no danger of the flames coming into contact with the canvas or poles.
The Nordic Tipi needs a level pitch 45' in diameter, not under trees or overhead power lines. The ground must allow metal spikes to be driven in to secure the structure
